Final Analysis of Mercer trade

For those who were wondering whether Wallace/Pitino made a wise move
in losing Ron Mercer, it looks like the final result is :
Ron Mercer equals Kedrick Brown.
Below is how I think the deals went.

-1st deal
 Mercer + Popeye + Schinzius = Fortson + E.W. + Eric Washington +
DraftPick (Kedrick Brown)

-2nd deal
 Cheaney signed as free agent

-3rd deal
Fortson + Barros + Ellison = HotRod + Pack + DraftPick (Joe Forte)

-4th deal
 Cheaney + Pack = Stith + Herren

So if you only count the players who will probably still be in the league
next year, and compare the original Celtics to current Celtics:
Mercer + Cheaney + Barros + Ellison =
Brown + Stith + Forte + E.W.
or for short:

 Ron Mercer = Kedric Brown

... Should the C's have done some things differently ?

p.s. about Gene's eval of Gary Trent, I'd sign him for the C's. Even
though he's short and a heavyweight, he's a leaper. Could come off
the bench block more shots and intimidate more than Antoine and shoots a
high percentage (C's greatest weakness IMO). But would rather get Dale
Davis (Vitaly trade rumor?) for a couple of years.
