Re: BSG's take/Future trade

I also found BSG latest an interesting read. The main thing is that it has
got me forward thinking. If we continue on the way we are playing, the future
will be now. We are having a hard enough time finding playing time for Brown,
let alone Forte. We need need a backup power forward who can rebound and
score for the time when Walker is out or to keep the wheels on if Walker went
down with a minor injury. Having a guy like Forte on IR is too much of a
luxury if you team is jelling without him. I wouldn't feel this way if we
already have a player like Brown who we need to develop along with continued
time for JJ. We will also get a player next year in the draft (BTW, the
Philly pick in a couple of years is starting to look better and better).
Hindsighters will say that we should have picked up a power forward instead
of Forte in the draft. However, I don't think a rookie power forward would
help us this year anyways and I think Forte will hold his value. The power
foward we would get would need to be able to score and rebound. We have seen
what happens to the offense when Obie put in two nonscorers together (Battie,
VP) at the 4 and 5 positions. I don't know what could happen with the salary
cap. Oakley would seem to be a logical person but he hasn't impressed me much
with his play....
