C's May Trade With Toronto & Other Stuff

Peter May reports both in the Boston Globe and the Sporting News
that the Celtics might do a trade with Toronto. No, it's not
Antoine Walker for Tracy McGrady (we can only hope), but rather
for the rights to the best player in Europe, one Zeljko Rebraca,
a 6-11 Yugoslavian center, and from what I remember, originally drafted
by
Minnesota. Rebraca is 27 and expected to spend one more year smoking two
packs a day in Europe before heading to the NBA. Rebraca is considered
to
be a strong player with good defensive and rebounding skills.

May also mentions that Chris Wallace's presence in Athens was heralded
by the Greek press, who treated him like "General Patton", much to
the dismay of Chris who tried to do his scouting on the incognito side.
Not surprising, since Wallace was the only NBA executive taking in the
AEK - Panathanaikos game, and the greek press ran wild with it, as they
assumed the Celtics and he were focusing in on Iakovos Tsakalidis,
who had a less than productive 8 points and 5 rebounds in 18 foul-plaged
minutes.

While in Europe, Wallace spoke to the agents for Rebraca and
the promising Nate Huffman, and saw Rebraca play twice. So,
it seems quite likely that the C's are going to make a concentrated
effort -- whether it's drafting Tsakalidis or signing Rebraca or
Huffman -- to come up with a big center in this off season.

May also suggested that the C's think about acquiring Adonal Foyle,
a shotblocker with upside who's been an underachieving dissapointment,
as a free agent.

Steve Bulpett in the Herald notes that with all the teams wanting to
shuffle their rosters, that there will be more of an opportunity
for the Celtics to trade for a veteran....
