Should The Celtics Get Involved In The Tim Duncan's Sweepstakes?
With the possibility of Tim Duncan leaving the Spurs after the
season and the further possibility that he may consent to a sign and
trade - Should the Celtics make an offer for Duncan? Why of course
you say, but will you feel the same way after San Antonio asks for
Walker, Pierce, and the C's lottery pick?
I'd probably go for it, as Duncan types are once or twice
in a generation sort of players. Perhaps the parameters of
the trade could be different. Maybe instead
of both Walker and Pierce, they'd be equitable to
Potapenko and Fortson. Walker, Potapenko, Fortson, and the
lottery pick for Duncan? Building the C's around Duncan
and Pierce would be sweet. The only drawback to acquiring
a Duncan would be the continuance of Pitino as the coach.
If he's got Duncan, he's not going to be in any hurry to
vacate the premises. Whatever the case, if Duncan's leaving the
Spurs after the season, there's going to be all sorts of wild
proposals being tossed out...
