This is a nice look at the issues at hand, let me comment on a few items, as we actually consider the alternate list mentioned herein.

"List members,

As I watch the insults fly back and forth (only a little bit more than
usual), I have a few thoughts on the state of the list.  I want to share
them, and I am sure some of you don't want to hear them.  

Give me some credit Rob, you certainly are quick to "know" us all.

I never skip even one post, I consider them all for the effort those who typed them gave, besides I can take it as much as anyone, unlike a few others who can't handle getting their feelings hurt and run off to mommy (ei Josh, McMasterbate, Ryan and likely Dan the worst)

I notice that there are a lot of people who will routinely use their Celtics
fan status to bash others opinions.  Basically, these tactics go something
like:  "If you were a true fan like me, you'd agree with my opinion" or
"With that kind of opinion, you should be a Clippers/Knicks/Fakers/Bulls
fan."  

I make fun of WWR's Clipper alliances as he is clearly a Clippers fan; ask most you have been on this list for some about all the insane Clippers trades he was pushing last year; besides he really enjoys the attention. Using our fandom over simplifies it, it is more to note being a classic fan or a Rodman ass kisser.

These kind of arguments, by themselves, are weak ones.  

I couldn't agree more, but given the tactics of WWR (and his multi-headed monster) he has it coming.

You should back them up with reasons why a true fan would think like you.  Better yet,
leave the "true fan" drivel out entirely.  It seem to me that on a list full
of Celtics fans, accusing someone of not being a true fan is close to the
biggest insult you could give someone.

Prepare to be insulted, as this argument is at the core of many very educated and heated discussions.  How long have you actually been on this list or maybe paying attention.  It is clear to many here that there are at least of few lurkers and posters who likely aren't true fans they just hang around to incite, to success most of the time.  This "true fan" drivel is 100% founded and has ratted out more than a few less than noble individuals, besides would you really want a Fakers fan poisoning the water Rob?

Yes, the list is about discussing your opinion, and others opinions.  Of
course we are not all going to agree on everything (possibly on anything).
Of course not everyone is going to be civil.  But before you post insults,
try to think of a better way to make your point, unless of course you are
only here to fling insults at those who don't agree with you.  The rest of
us should just ignore the few that like to stir up trouble, unless of course
you enjoy that sort of thing (personally, I like Jim McMaster's
mud-wrestling with a pig analogy).

Jim McMasterbate only, and I mean only posts to belittle some inane legal point or matter.  Jim is a classic bully Rob, and insults, as much as they hurt some, are the only thing that get others to wake up and smell the coffee.  Jeff Chin and Noah don't bombard us with 2000 word essays or cheerleader inspired crap because they were pushed to finally believe they weren't preaching to the quirt.  Unless Rob you like the idea of Celtics cheerleaders. I don't argue for their right to post, just the damning nature. And before you assume I should listen to my own gospel, that is fair, but believe you me I have very deep support, enough to consider a separate list, and no one has pushed me off yet, no bullies allowed on my street.
 
I would also suggest that the thin-skinned among us who cannot tolerate any
opinions different from their own should start a web page where they can
state their own opinions rather than participating in this list.  Keep in
mind that:
Thin-skinned eh?  Hurling a few insults because you can't prove your argument any other way Rob?

* Read above this is the only way to get through to some idiots and IT DOES WORK

Again no problem there do it all the time.

And they for the most part won't learn a damn thing. Nice post again, though you obviously look at the world with a very fine pair of rose colored glasses Rob.
