Being Spoiled and medriocrity

Anne, you said: "Ya know, Pitino may not be the
perfect coach, but let's face it, he has a point with
his post-game comments. The city of BOSTON is SPOILED,
and they are acting just like that, spoiled brats. No
one likes to lose, but when you have to pick up the
pieces after the death of Len Bias and then Reggie
Lewis, what do you expect?? I commend him for trying
to keep his team positive. They work hard, and it just
going to take longer to recover from two major fall
backs (Bias & Lewis)."

It seems like everything soured immediately after
winning the 16th title. Bias, poor drafts, Bird,
McHale retiring, Lewis passing (and cap space), X-man
and Nique patches, to ML. I thought Pitino said he
didn't read the papers (LOL). First, had Bias and
Lewis lived they'd be retired or on their way down.
It's 2000 people. We can't use it forever. I knew
there'd be lean years and continued to support the
team in the 90s but this is rediculous. Second,
spoiled? We've made the playoffs ONCE in the last
eight seasons. I'm not asking title, or even
contending (yet), just improvement Rick. After all,
you have been hyping playoffs. For a 15 win team to
make the playoffs (this year), that would require
improvement, no? I do blame Pitino for being so
arrogant as to think he can do it all. Rodman said
back in '97 Pitino's system would never work because
rookies couldn't execute it and vets wouldn't go for
it. I blame him for the free agent signings (and Chris
Wallace), his substitution patterns and his looking
for players that fit his system, which does not work.
He needs to go. Should he stay, he should give up his
other responsibilities and get someone (C family
member or not) who knows how to scout, evaluate, draft
and sign talent! Then focus his coaching to gel a unit
instead of trying to throw 11 players randomly into a
game.

With regards to this statement made by someone else:
"We are what Cleveland, New Jersey, Atlanta and
Detroit are. Bad enough to miss the playoffs, but not
bad enough to pick up real talent in the draft. Bad,
without cap room." Don't kid yourself. We are not as
good as those teams. They were all recently in the
playoffs. We haven't been and won't be if things
persist. The funny thing is the one time Gaston sucks
it up to sign the marquee coach Pitino, he should've
gone for Brown (imo). Although I was admittedly
excited about Pitino coming to save the franchise, it
appears that Brown was/is the better coach and able to
get it together. It would be one thing if Pitino could
improve/learn on the job, but he feels he is in
control. Nellie just flat outcoached him the other
night.

Finally, the big three may be gone, but Orlando and
Chicago never had a big 3. I'd like to know how
Chicago can be world champs in 98, blow up the team
and right now are arguably in better shape than the
C's. Orlando was in the 95 finals, lost Shaq and
Penny, have a rookie coach and bunch of scrubs (sorry
Mercer) and they will wind up with a better record
than the C's. Moreover, they put forth a better
EFFORT. Take a look around the league and then in the
mirror, Rick.
