Austin In Boston FAQ

1. How will the Celtics acquire Austin Croshere?

The scenario would be for Croshere to opt out
of the final year of his Indiana contract and become a free agent.
Out of loyalty to the Pacers, he would agree to a sign and trade,
as long as it's to a favorable location (i.e. not the LA Clippers
or a seriously rebuilding club).

2. What will the Celtics have to give up to acquire Croshere?

With his fine outstanding play in the post season,
his value has skyrocketed. At the least, it will
cost the Celtics a Fortson or Battie and one
of their first round choices next season. At the
most, you'll see Antoine Walker in some sort of
package for Croshere and other considerations.

3. How will Croshere affect Antoine Walker's
role with the Celtics?

If Croshere is a Celtic next season, Walker will
either be the starting small forward, starting
at small forward for another NBA team, or
packaged in the deal to acquire Croshere, who
is certainly not going to be the Celtics sixth
man. Those who express such a viewpoint need a
reality check.

4. Can Boston and Indiana actually consummate
such a deal or will the salary cap and BYC
thwart any such attempt?

Yes, Indian and the Celtics can do a major
deal, as the Pacers still have Antonio
Davis' %4.5 million trade exception and
they look to be one of the few teams under
the cap.

5. Is there anyone else on Indiana that interests
Boston, that may come over as part of a package?

Yes, the C's (Pitino) love Mark Jackson, so
he could also be here as a part of a sign and
trade. Perhaps Indiana's first round pick too,
if Walker is involved. The C's also like Jalen
Rose and Jonathan Bender, but it's unlikely they'll
be moved.
