<CELTICS- The Boston Celtics made an initial offer to
<Danny Fortson ($4 million for 4 seasons) in order to
<try and keep him around, or help him get his value up.
<The Knicks inquired about him, and where told of the
<deal offer from Boston, and that Boston would be
<receptive to a sign and trade with New York, and
<immediately the name that has surfaced in talks is
<Chris Childs. As the Celtic desperately need back
<court help Childs may be a good fit for a backup
<guard. The C's have also ,made their desires for Mark
<Jackson and Austin Croshere known. Potential suitors
<have sent Croshere jerseys featuring his name and
<number, as well as numerous invitations to come and
<talk and see what they have. Croshere has told
<reporters that despite the number of interested
<parties, he still felt he was Indiana's player to
<lose. Boston hopes that changes.
