Finding a new "big three"

I am not sure Walker, Pierce & Mercer could have peacefully coexisted.

I think John is correct. If a team needs a "big three" to win, at least
one of those 3 needs to be an unselfish defensive player (hopefully a
rebounder/shootblocker), with no desire to shoot the big shots. Does that
sound like Walker, Pierce, or Mercer?!? Of course not, it sounds like the
Chief.

I think trading Mercer was the right thing to do for a couple of reasons:
- It was either him or Walker, and Walker has more potential (which sadly
seems worth more in today's NBA than performance does) and was already signed.
- His agents (former agent) contract demands were seemingly ridiculous for
a two guard who has not shown any signs of being a rebounder or defensive
stopper. Guards who can get you 20 points a night are a dime a dozen in the
CBA (that is what Cousy said when the Celtics gave Barros his contract)

What they got in return for Mercer remains to be seen, and probably won't
be known until the draft pick is made.
