Why do you resent Fortson so much? It seems that his every foul, turnover,
or missed shot is cause for your venomous celebration. Despite the very
difficult cimcumstances he's had to play in, he gives every ounce of effort
when he's on the court. Last night he was playing the greatest center of
this, and probably the next, decade, who looks to be nearly a foot taller
(they list him at 7-1?!), and is at least 50lbs heavier than Danny.
Nobody in the NBA can guard Shaq (did you know that his conversion rate in
the paint supposedly is 92%?!). Yet Fortson, an undersized PF, is supposed
stop him without fouling? Fortson's second foul was offensive, when he
knocked Shaq on his ass to get his shot off. As Tommy put it, "it was
either push him out of the way [and hope for a no-call], or eat a lot of
leather. " (not an exact quote, but close).

DF only got three rebounds because he relies on creating space and his
anticipation, not height or leaping ability, to get rebounds. Against the
newly motivated Shaq, who is much taller, heavier, AND a better leaper,
he's not going to be as effective, especially playing at C and and in short
stints. Obviously, pushing Shaq aside (without fouling) to create
rebounding space is nontrivial. That's why Shaq's the second leading
rebounder in the NBA (.4 rpg behind Mutombo).
