This may be true, but the sale would let Pitino walk without losing face.

For Bird to send an olive branch to Pitino was unusual at best.  It might be
that Bird needs Pitino as leverage to make the sale happen.

For what Pitino would walk away from he could end up with a small chunk of
the organization, but I doubt that.

I would find it hard to believe that Bird would keep Pitino, but the Pacers
will have an opening......

Bird would still need to get out of/renegotiate the Fleet Center contract as
the lack of revenue stream for concessions will continue to hamper this
team.

I'm pulling for Bird!
