Re: URL: NY Post: Knicks Want Fortson

The Knicks don't seem to have a veteran player of interest to the
Celtics, unless Pitino is really desperate with just a week to go on the
trade deadline.

The 27-year-old Kurt Thomas may be one of the few non-essential core
players the Knicks have available to trade for Fortson. Both are free
agents to be.

Thomas is reasonably tall (6-9). He doesn't pass well or block shots at
all (0.47), but he leads his team in FG% (.495) and is third behind
Ewing and Camby in rebounds (6.2). NBA.COM actually lists his "hobbies"
as "sleeping and playing video games" so he should fit right in with
Antoine Walker as a houseguest.

Other possibilities are John Wallace (averaging just 12.8 minutes) and
the former Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward (currently on the IR).

BTW, the NY Post reporter needs to polish up his math skills:

"Ward has put together his best season as a Knick, averaging eight
points per game, shooting 40 percent from 3-point land with a healthy
4-1 assists-to-turnover ratio (4.4 assists-to-1.4 turnovers)."

(In fact that's more like a 3:1 ratio)
