Alvin Williams

The 6-5, 185 pound Alvin Williams (born 8/6/74) made first team 1996-97
Big East All Star for Villanova as a senior averaging 17 ppg, 3.8 apg,
5.0 rpg and 1.76 spg. He averaged a career high 5.4 apg as a junior.

In his second NBA season he made 45 starts in 50 games for the Toronto
Raptors. He played just 21 mpg while leading the Raptors in free throw
percentage (.846) and finishing second in three-point percentage (.333).

He rarely turns the ball over, with no higher than a 1.1 average in his
three NBA seasons. This year he is averaging 3.0 assists in 17.4
minutes.

Okay, that's not as impressive as 11.6 rebounds for Fortson.

But he fills a need and has some solid "measurables" in terms of size
and fundamentals. He certainly beat out Billups last year, for whatever
that may be worth.

I don't know a thing about his defense. He is not a great shooter
overall, hitting .414 this year and .421 for his NBA career while
averaging a timid 5.33 attempts per game.

So it's "Goodbye Danny Boy". What a loss to trade such a young and
ambitious kid. We should wish him well, as well as to hope that Alvin
is another Adrian Griffin type Big East overachiever.
