Marky-Mark

Here's NBA.COM's scoop on Kiwi-and-UCBerkeley-boy Sean Marks. I guess
one fun factoid about this 24-year-old is that he has yet to have an
assist in his 13-game NBA game.

BACKGROUND
California's team captain and leading rebounder as a senior, 6-10
forward-center Sean Marks was born and raised in New Zealand and became
the first player from his country to appear in the NBA when he made his
debut with the Toronto Raptors on March 16, 1999. Marks, who attended
high school in New Zealand, averaged 8.0 ppg and 4.9 rpg in his junior
year and increased those figures to 9.8 ppg and a team-high 7.6 rpg in
26 games as a senior. He led the Golden Bears in rebounding 13 times,
with a career-high 13 boards against Virginia Commonwealth. He then
impressed scouts at the Nike Desert Classic by averaging 9.0 points and
7.7 rebounds per game, including 12 boards in one game. Drafted on the
second round by New York in 1998, the 44th choice overall, he was traded
to Toronto along with veteran Charles Oakley and cash for Marcus Camby
on June 25, 1998. He played for Kinder Bologna in the Italian League
before signing with Toronto on January 25, 1999. He played in eight
games as a Raptors rookie, totaling 11 points and one rebound in 28
minutes.
