Roster

Our roster now looks like:

C: Potapenko, Battie, Blount
PF: Walker, Moiso, McCarty
SF: Pierce, E. Williams
SG: Griffin, Cheaney, Carr
PG: Anderson, Brown, Pack
injured: Minor
soon to be ex-Celtics: Hot Rod, Ellison, Overton

The positions that I assigned are just guesses based on the
positions listed on NBA.com. And of course many players can
play two positions. I am actually betting that Battie ends
up starting and would not be surprised at all to see
Potapenko dealt as the team moves towards more athleticism.

There's a consistent pattern among the five additions -
Blount, Moiso, Carr, Brown, and Pack - athleticism. It seems
we've picked up a good amount of Slam Dunk contest ability
(former competitors Carr and Pack as well as newcomer Moiso)
if not starter-quality talent. Out of the five, I would
imagine that Moiso and Brown are guaranteed spots in the
rotation unless Moiso is really undeveloped. It's hard to
forecast with Pack because so much depends on his health.
He could easily be trade material. Blount will get some time
just because Potapenko and Battie often get into early
foul trouble and Pitino reacts (overreacts?) quickly in the
first half. Carr's time depends on if he can beat out
Cheaney for the backup SG spot, and whether the Celtics
are looking for offense or defense from that spot.

Most likely ten players will get the bulk of the minutes:
Walker, Pierce, Anderson, Potapenko, Battie, Williams,
Griffin, Cheaney, Brown, Moiso. If Pitino is heading back
towards his old ways, we should see Walker and Pierce
playing slightly less minutes. Battie's minutes should go
up from 18 to around 24. Anderson's minutes will go down
from 32 to 24-27, with the rest picked up by Brown and
Pack, depending on matchups. He probably played more than
Pitino would have preferred due to the inability of
Barros or Overton to run the offense.
