Now that's painfull. But it's also true. All the things Pitino's done as gm
has gotten this team nowhere in the wins column, the only place that
counts. Please, somebody tell me why I should believe a backup like Pack,
who's a guarantee not to play anything close to a whole season, and an
aging Randy "career backup" Brown will get this team closer to anything but
a run at the 8th playoff spot...if they're lucky. Ricky has to do something
else. He has to have soemthing else coming up. Draft picks and possible cap
room next year or the year after or the year after that are fine, but at
some point guys, winning this year has to be "at least" just as important.
I mean, that is the point of this whole exercise. Yes?

Remove "career backups" like Greg Anthony, Travis Best, Jon Barry et al. from their respective teams and see how it affects the teams' record. Starters do need to rest, and teams can't afford to have "dead spots" while they rest, like we had last season with Barros and Overton. And it's not just what these backups do in games - providing the competition for starters shouldn't be underestimated either.
As for winning this year, sure it's important, but not at the cost of dealing away the future. I definitely don't want Ricky to trade the picks for some stopgap measures so he can win 40 games, declare his campaign a total victory, and split, leaving us with a bunch of bad contracts and no future for the next decade. Besides, the current players would "become" quite a bit better if they weren't forced to impersonate beheaded fowl by Ricky Poultryno.
