Re: [Fwd: WALKER TO CHICAGO REPORTED!]

Good point. I wish we could interest the undercap teams like Chicago or LA in an
uncomplicated Fortson sign-and-trade. Maybe the Clippers still might get
interested if Mo Taylor leaves. A Clippers first round pick is like money in the
bank. Say for example we insist on a pick in 2002, there will probably be good
players there and the Clips aren't farsighted enough to value a pick two years
down the road. Or we can offer Fortson and a swap of our picks next year, in the
hope of getting a top three player out of the deal. I personally don't think
Boston will lose fewer than 37 games. The Boston pick will likely only fall in
the 8th to 14th range.

Pierce for Odom or Brand? Walker for Odom? That's a much safer and better deal
than Pfizer. I'll need to up my prescription to dangerous levels in order to get
a rise over Viagra-boy for Antoine.

p.s. When you look at the potential depth of the upcoming draft classes, you
realize Pitino's casual "player to be named later" (Denver's pick) in the Tariq
trade offer might have come back to haunt Boston for years. Depending on how
many underclassmen declare for the draft next year, Boston can time that Denver
pick until it is no longer top-3 protected. Of course they can jump the gun if
the '01 draft looks exceptionally strong.

As iffy as Boston's talent may seem right now, I do think we the "fellowship of
the miserables" should avoid egging Pitinochio to "do something, anything!" and
hold him to his "three years...doh, I meant four years" playoff pledge. Frankly
who even cares if Boston doesn't squeeze into the 8th seed next year? I'm
starting to get pretty used to the status quo anyway...provided that Gaston
rebuilds from a position of strength starting next year.
