Re: Dee is down!

Isn't that what the Boston cops said when they dragged Dee Brown out of his
car and stuck his face onto the pavement (because the rookie was driving too
slowly in a residential neighborhood, looking for a possible "for sale" sign)?
The class that he showed after this unfortunate event earned my everlasting
respect for him.

Dee's slam dunk contest victory as a rookie was something else too, because he
may have been the first "nobody" and first rookie to win that contest. It
seemed that throughout the 80s at least, all the established All Stars would
willingly compete in that contest win or lose, until Jordan started backing
out regularly and everyone followed suit. In fairness, Jordan did have a lot
to lose in terms of his reputation, and even Bird stopped entering the 3-point
contest after he had won it three straight times. Anyway, I think Dee was the
first highlight film dunker to wear a Celtics uniform, and on nights when he
was hitting his threes, that was about as hot as a player can get. DB's a
former Celtics captain. You've gotta wish him well, unless he's playing
against us. :-)
