Bob Bass on The Draft
Bass is Charlotte's GM.
Charlotte Journal - May 16, 1999
Q: How deep is this draft, how good is it, and
what kind of player will be there at No. 13 if it
plays out that you draft 13th?
A: The draft is mostly ones, twos and threes.
There's not many big guys to speak of, probably
McCulloch at Washington or Eschmeyer at
Northwestern, unless some more underclassmen come
out that we're not aware of. If you draft by
position, you may not get as good a player as you
could if you draft the best player. I think we'll
just have to wait and take a hard look at that and
see how we go. Our team right now has got a lot of
guys that play the two-three positions, and we
want to keep three point guards, so there's a good
possibility we'll draft a point guard. There are
some point guards in the draft. Andre Miller,
Steve Francis, William Avery, Jason Terry. That's
four guys right there that are pretty good
players. I imagine Francis is going to be in the
top three, Miller in the top seven or eight, and
then I don't know exactly where Avery or Terry
will fit in.
