Francis

Let's remember this about Steve Francis: he has played ONE, count 'em, ONE
season of big-time college ball. That is no guarantee of long-term success in
the pros. The Iverson comparisons are right on, but that might not be a good
thing. How many highlight reels have you seen of Francis making a terrific
assist? I mean, I wouldn't necessarily weep if Pitino somehow managed to draft
him, but I really doubt he'd make any of our young players better with his
shoot-first, -second and -third mentality. With the firepower we have, give me
a classic penetrate-then-pass point guard.

I can tell you that Pitino likes Odom, Brand, and
Francis. He projects those players as the top three picks
with a big seperation between them and the other draftees.
It's one of the reasons he sought to have the draft choice
lottery protected to the first three.
