3 Moments vs. Indy

There are three points in the game that I'll point to as to why the C's
ended up losing that game.

(1) KA made a great pass to AW who was all alone under the basket.
Walker flips the ball over his head with his back turned to the basket
and misses the shot badly. Unacceptable. Walker needs to gather
himself and go up strong with that shot. The C's could have maintained
a 9 point lead with that basket.

(2) The very next offesive series after (1) KA takes a quick three
pointer from the wing. Very bad decision. Actually, an unacceptable
one considering it was made by our point guard. Indy rebounds the ball
and Miller nails a three.

(3) Mercer comes off a screen, dumps off to Walker does not take it
strong, but instead jumps too early and tries for the slam with one
hand. The shot is easily blocked by Indy. Tthey go to the other end and
Smits nails a shot.

Items (1) and (3) are brought about because Walker knows he isn't a very
good free throw shooter. He rushes his shots sometimes for fear that he
may end up getting fouled and make a fool of himself at the freethrow
line. You see, Walker's sub 50% mark from the free throw line is
affecting his entire offensive game. Walker did have a bad shooting
night, but he also did not get the roll on some of his short hooks. For
the most part he was getting good looks and taking good shots, they just
didn't fall. Again, his rush to shoot before the foul is something that
will plague his game until his free throw talents improve.

One small bright spot was Potapenko's occassional ability to frustrate
Smits. Vitaly's defense was not consistent enough, but he is the first
guy in a C's uniform to move an opposing big man off his spot since some
guy named Robert Parish was lurking the paint in the old Gahden.

Oh well,
