Peirce Considered

At least Pierce's name is being mentioned among the best in the NBA because I still don't hear it when it comes to talking about rookie of the year. The good news is that Sacramento has a worse record than the Celtics so "White Chocolate" doesn't have the edge there.

The coverage of the NBA is all about flash at this point.

(AP) - Philadelphia's Allen Iverson, the NBA's leading scorer
with a 28.5 average, Monday was chosen player of the month for
February. He is the first Philadelphia player to win NBA Player
of the Month honors since Charles Barkley in November 1988.
Iverson also averaged 6.0 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 2.31 steals
in leading the 76ers to an 8-5 record, their best start since the
1990-91 season. Iverson scored 30 or more points six times,
including 46 against San Antonio Feb. 12.

Others considered for the monthly honor were Boston's Paul Pierce,
Cleveland's Shawn Kemp, Denver's Antonio McDyess, Detroit's Grant Hill,

Houston's Scottie Pippen, the Los Angeles Lakers' Shaquille O'Neal, Miami's
Alonzo Mourning, New York's Allan Houston, Orlando's Nick
Anderson, Phoenix's Jason Kidd, Seattle's Gary Payton, Utah's
Karl Malone and Sacramento's Chris Webber.
