                                          Around the league: Things sound a little tense in Boston
                                          right now. Rick Pitino all but promised the playoffs
                                          next season, which means he needs to leap about four
                                          teams for the eighth spot. The Celtics can't afford to
                                          re-sign Ron Mercer and want to dump Kenny Anderson.

                                          Basically the franchise is no better than when Pitino
                                          arrived. He's been riding his staff pretty hard lately
                                          so the stress is showing. Pitino is owed a little over
                                          $20 million on his contract, and there's talk he might
                                          accept a buyout to move on. ...
