Pick gets picked
The Celtics' pick in the second round of next week's
draft was officially scooped up yesterday,
but not by the team they expected. The Knicks had first
dibs on the choice, No. 37 overall, but
decided not to take it. Vancouver then got a chance,
having gotten a future second-rounder from
Boston in the Tony Massenburg - Roy Rogers trade. The
Grizzlies decided late
yesterday to take the pick, mainly because their own
second-rounder was gone to the Lakers in
the deal involving Anthony Peeler and George Lynch. The
move by Vancouver means
the Celtics will not draft until No. 55, barring a
deal. They own that pick from Orlando through
Denver from the Eric Williams trade two summers ago.
Yes, lucky number 55, I can feel it now ... Hey Warwick, wanna make a list of
the last 5 or 10 guys drafted in that position or later?
