Peter Vecsey On WEEI

Peter Vecsey was on WEEI's Big Show with Bob Ryan and Glenn
Ordway and said:

- Tim Duncan, best player in the NBA for the next ten to twelve
years - hitting his free throws now, makes his teammates better.

- Mark Jackson says Pitino was the best coach he ever played for;
Oakley loves him too.  Veterans will play for Pitino - they'll
go where they have a chance to win.  Pitino not any worse than
Riley and he attracts veterans - Alonzo Mourning says playing
a year for Riley is like the equivalent of a dog's year.
Vecsey calls Pitino a good coach.

- Penny Hardaway: Vecsey spoke to one of the Orlando coaching
candidates, and said candidate would not trade Penny to Boston,
because both Mercer and Anderson don't need to be double-teamed,
Hardaway does.  Vecsey further states that Hardaway was close to 
Pitino's consultant Richie Abudato.

- Vecsey dislikes Shawn Kemp - thinks it was wrong for Cleveland
to reward him with a new contract.

- Says Van Gundy lucked out and submarined the Knick GM - Gundy
very stubborn and set in his ways - fought against current syle they're
playing; bad-mouthed Camby; structured offense around Ewing.

- Says it's over for the Knicks with Ewing out.  

- Says C's have talent in Pierce and Walker; Battie too; thinks 
they may re-sign him.
