Re: armstrong over hardaway...

I do not purport myself to be the statistical expert you obviously claim to
be. Be that as it may, Jason Kidd's FG% has risen due to the fact that he
rarely shoots the long range jumper anymore. That was one of the elements
of the player/coach difference as you so eloquently put it. Tim Hardaway's
game has evolved into that of a point guard which was not always the case.
Also your stats in his regard are very misleading. An assist can be given
to a player who passes to a teammate who buries the jumper from downtown
such as Mullin or Sprewell. Perhaps even more pertinent to this discussion
is why Hardaway said that if Sprewell came to Miami, he was gone.
Supposedly cuz he didn't get along with him since Spree supposedly thinks of
himself first. Which one has championship round experience? None?

I notice below you said it's nice to see them improve in the later stages,
but who cares. There are no players who should be selfish. I can remember
Lloyd Free and Andrew Toney making the occasional pass and there aren't a
whole lotta players on NBA rosters who can shoot like those two.

Charlie Scott is a classic example of a player who had a scorer's mentality
but became more of a team player when he got to Boston.
