Not a Mercer rant (I promise)



Alex - are you sure this is right? Let's say the Celtics at the end of this
year have Pervis roll off the cap. Can the team really not then use his $2.5
million or whatever to sign someone else? If Walker's salary pushes the team
over the cap year after year, regardless of who rolls off, why then would any
team sign any player to a long term, multimillion dollar deal? My
understanding was that there were salary "slots" -- though someone indicated
before that this might have gone the way of the old collective bargaining
deal. Can anybody else comment?
