I think this is one of those statements that gives Rick his reputation.  It 
is simply false.  He was making promises during last year's March swoon that 
the Celtics would be in the playoffs this coming year.  Of course as soon as 
he said it, I knew it wouldn't take him long to back off of it.  And, sure 
enough, a week or two later I heard him phrasing it as "in the third or 
fourth year".  Now, some of you get really irritated by this trait of his.  
I feel like I've learned to interpret what he says into what he means.  For 
instance, when he makes a promise about making the playoffs, I take that to 
mean they are going to have that as a goal, try very hard to achieve it and 
be very disappointed if they don't.  I think you have to listen to Rick 
Pitino in the same way you listen to, say, a politician.
