My trade scenarios

There are two plausible deals worth doing for the C's to address their
needs and go into next season as a playoff candidate:

1. Ron Mercer and a 2001 1st round pick to Cleveland for Andre Miller
and Derek Anderson. Cleveland needs a scoring guard and has a logjam at
point with Brevin Knight as the young experienced starter. Mercer gives
them an athletic scorer to compliment Kemp. Boston gets a mature but
young, pass first defensive oriented point guard along with an athletic
ex-Kentucky swingman.

2. Kenny Anderson to LA Clips in a sign and trade for Lorenzen Wright.
This team is desperate for a point guard after missing out on Baron
Davis in the draft. Lorenzen Wright fills our need for a rebounding
power forward and is leaving the Clips anyway. He can sign with them
for more money than anyone else and is the tough player we need to
complement Walker and V. Wright could get a very nice contract with
starting money in the range that Kenny is currently making. Kenny gets
to play in LA where he lives, and doesn't have to deal with Pitino.
Everyone comes out a winner in this deal.

After these two deals, we have a starting lineup of

Barros
Pierce
Walker
Wright
VP

with a bench of

Miller
Derek Anderson
Walter
Tony Battie
Minor
Popeye Jones

Wright is versatile enough to play some center and Barros can move over
to the off guard with Miller running the point. As Miller develops, he
becomes the starter, and Barros goes back to the role he is best suited
for, a sniper off the bench. Derek Anderson gives them defense and
athleticism off the bench along with McCarty and Battie. Minor and
Popeye are fill ins. Overall this a very versatile and athletic group,
that is only missing the veteran maturity that seems to take teams deep
into the playoffs. Either they develop it through experience, or they
add it in a year or two when it becomes critical.
