Just a comment on that Globe article:

"[Popeye} definitely can help the Celtics. The team could use his rebounding and
                                his presence. Jamal Mashburn, a former
teammate, once called him the Pied
                                Piper of basketball."

If anyboduy wonders what the hell that means, Mash has been quoted as saying
that everybody in Dallas loved playing with Jones. I assume that's because he
did the dirty work and didn't demand the ball.

"That's why the Celtics, Sonics, Mavericks, and others
                                are all interested in having him. Jones was
asked if he had a preference.

                                ''It's really not fair [to the teams
interested in him] for me to say
                                that,'' he said. ''But this is one of the
teams I really like, and I think
                                my services could really help this team. And I
feel that I fit in here.''

Lord, I hope he stays ... not if it came at the expense of our getting a real
solid center, but if there were no good centers to be had I certainly could
deal with having Jones and getting by until next off-season. A solid center
AND Jones and we are a force.
