Campbell

At risk of being flamed to death, I have always though Easy Elden could help
the Celtics. If the Lakers make it work cap-wise (that is, if they take Minor
& Travis off our hands), what is the worst that can happen? He can't be any
WORSE than what we have now at center. He is 7', 255 and he's just turned 30.
He averaged 22 minutes, 10 points, 5.6 boards and 1.3 rejections this past
year, down from 32 minutes, 15 points, 8 boards and 1.7 blocks the year
before. Nice numbers, you must admit. Tony, I think the Robert Parish
comparison is valid, altho' Parish had not been in the league as long as
Campbell has. But Elden played well when O'Neal was out of the lineup, he is
athletic enough to play in this system, and he blocks shots.

Subject: Rumor out of LA

Rumor from XTRA radio is that the Lakers have offered Elden Campbell to
the Celtics for Travis Knight and other cap fodder to make the deal work
cap wise (the rumor was Greg Minor). I'm one of Campbell biggest
detractors. I dislike the guys work ethic and feel that he could be a
great player if he got it together.

That said ... he could provide us with a legitimate Center in this
league. He has played well in that position when Shaq was out with an
injury and if anybody can get through, I would think it would be Pitino.

He'd either get through to him or Campbell will be the most expensive
piece of crap in the league on the end of a bench. RP will run him
until he retires.

One thing I will say is that Robert Parish was considered lackadaisical
when he was with Golden State ... maybe this could be something similar.-Tony
