Yes I have read the article basically it accuses (and rightfully so) teams
such as Knicks, Lakers, Kings and Suns for talking to players first and
doing a deal sideways before trading for them. The instances quoted are:
Knicks deal to sign Sprewell (i don't remember on what count)
Lakers bid for getting Rice (a deal which hasn't consumated)
Suns bid for signing McDyess ( a move that back fired)
Kings understanding with the guy they signed 800,000
Also quoted are some other deals basically on the same lines (the forgot to
list the Yogi Stewart deal.)
