Bob Ryan Said

Bob Ryan was on WEEI and provided some interesting
discourse about the Celtics. He feels Dana Barros
would be best suited as a 7th or 8th man on
a contending team, providing offense off the
bench from the shooting guard position as opposed to being the C's
back-up point guard. He's miscast in his present role, Ryan uttered.

Ryan was bored with the C's last night. Bob
noted, he has certain standards and since they
weren't met, he watched the Dog show on USA.

On Popeye Jones, Ryan saw a quasi-Silas like transformation occurring
at approximately the
same stage in the their careers. Paul Silas
shed a considerable amount of weight and
raised his level of play to that of a very
good player. Ryan feels with Popeye's
weight loss, he's gone from being an okay
player to a good player.

It was either Ryan or host Glenn Ordway who
noted that the C's press may not be effective
this shortened season. Teams are prepared for
the Celtics and Pitino, because of lack of
conditioning/shortened season may not be able
to use the trap.

I think it was Ordway who mentioned that he
didn't see Kenny Anderson being here two
or three years from now.
