An Outside View

Here are a few blurbs from Mike Fine in today's Quincy (MA) Patriot
Ledger (non-Web-posted story): Walker doesn't get the picture

On the everpresent Walker trade rumors: "If Celtic fans are lucky,
one of these trades will actually take place."

On Walker himself: "He thinks he's a high-priced superstar, and one
of his All-Star appearances fortified his belief, but he's not close.
He's an overpaid second-echelon player."

On Walker's shot selection: "Walker wouldn't know a good shot if he
tripped over one."

On Walker's jumping ability: "He can't jump...." When's the last
time you saw Walker get more than two inches off the floor?"

On Pitino and Walker: "It's up to the coach to reign him in, something
he has yet to do in three seasons."

More on Walker's shot selection: "He tosses up more junk than Fred
Sanford. If Walker played the lottery like the garbage he throws to
the hoop, he'd be broke."

Walker's good points: "He seems like a nice guy. He's not a
troublemaker. He's a good spokesman and seems to have a grasp of
what's right and wrong."

Walker's bad points: "He shoots too much, doesn't rebound enough
and doesn't pass enough. It's a disease for young men playing in
the NBA these days. They came in too young, off the playgrounds
or even from college programs in which they star, thinking, 'I'm
the man,' when they're really just boys."

On Walker's future: "Will he straighten out when Danny Fortson returns
and he, Walker can move to small forward? Why would we think so?"
