Coaching

Coaching is a hell of a lot more than just guiding a team through one
part of one game.  There are not many coaches who could get what Pitino
is getting out of this team.  O'Brien couldn't do it if he had all the
responsibility.

As for substitutions, this has always been Pitino's theory.  That is
keep fresh troops coming at them until you overwhelm them.  Sometimes it
works, and this list was falling all over itself talking about how smart
Pitino was to leave the second team in and keep Toine and others on the
bench.  Sometimes it doesn't.  But to think that the assistant is a
better coach because he was doing what Pitino told him to do is absurd
and a fantasy.  (That's why we are called fans btw.)

Get real folks.  There is an old saying, "Even a blind hog finds an
acorn once in a while."

Do you really think that Pitino was not directing the assistants?  Do
you really think they got together and said, "Let's do just the opposite
of what Rick wants us to do?"

We get carried away sometimes, but this line of thought is absurd at
best.  Let's see, and when KC played the starters too much it was, damn
you gotta substitute, you are wearing them out, they'll get injured.
Now that we sustitute, it is play the starters 48 minutes a game.  I
mean, they only have about 67 games to go!

If only we could tell Pitino how to run this team.  Damn, I bet we'd
have Hughes and DNP Ratliff instead of toine and be playing them 46
minutes a game and have a 15-0 record!

Sorry, but I just had to vent that.  I feel better now.
