Pitino Admits To A Bad Trade; Bob Cousy; Free Agents To Be

Rick Pitino admitted in Sunday's Michael Holley column that he had
made a bad trade in the past.

Was it :

A) The Kenny Anderson deal?
B) The Roy Rogers trade?
C) The Eric Williams swap?
D) Travis Knight for Tony Battie?
E) Chris Mills for Walter McCarty?

Answer appears at bottom of the post.....

Bob Cousy said in one of the Sunday papers, that he was asked by the
Celtics
to do TV commentary on FNE for all of their games. He declined that
offer
because he wanted to continue spending the majority of his winter time
in
Florida with his family. However, he hoped there would still be a role
for
him doing only road games. Hopefully, that will occur.

Free Agents-To-Be

Based on the information supplied at Bskball's site, the C's have six
players
on the current roster, elgible to be free agents after the upcoming
season:

Pervis Ellison
Wayne Turner
Adrian Griffin
Danny Fortson
Tony Battie
Eric Washington

Well Pervis is a goner, and it's not a case of IF, but when exactly,
between
now and the trading deadline, the deal will go through? A trade is
sure to happen, since the C's have 15 roster spots filled to the brim,
and
Pervis, because he is in the last year of his contract, has value. At
least
that's what Michael Holley says.

Wayne Turner, if he plays well, should wind up with one of next
year's exceptions.

Griffin, who knows?

Fortson, I expect to see him re-signed next summer, if not sooner.
Although
if it's sooner, it will have to be between now and October 1st as he's
grandfathered in the old rookie contract.

Battie is probably a goner - The victim of having to sign both Fortson
and
he. Is Gaston going to shell out $12 - $16 million for their combined
salaries?
Seems unlikely, and with Il Duce constantly on the prowl, trying to
upgrade
the team, there's strength to the possibility that Battie could be
packaged
for a quality veteran along with other players like Barros and Mr.
Injured Reserve
himself, Pervis.

Eric Washington is once again, a who knows? But if Barros is dealt
somewhere,
he has the possibility of being a keeper, since he's apparently a
three-point
specialist, and athletic one at that.

The Eric Williams deal - Il Duce said in Holley's column that he gave
him away.
