Players playing chicken

This is the url for the latest ESPN article on the talks. Reading
between the lines I think this is what is going on, the players union
believes that it will win the arbitration and is betting that the owners
will cave if they have to pay guaranteed salaries. If the owners don't
cave, the union is going to be in trouble.

The reason is this, the current system is fundamentally unfair. A
player like Tyrone Corbin should not have to play for league minimum
when the rookies are signing contracts for millions. And the big
contracts by those like Garnett are eating up all the money. So, the
players will not stay united if the owners don't cave. Billy Hunter
could have a real problem then. It will be worse if the owners win the
arbitration, cause then the owners will be in the drivers seat.

The people who are getting hurt are the fans, refs, and employees who
work at the coliseums etc. The others are the veteran players who are
not franchise players. They should come out ahead to have a fair
resolution. This sucks.
