I hope that you dont honestly believe this.  First of all, if it were true
that all pitchers were ordered to lay it in there for McGwire then how do you
explain the fact that he's walked so many times?  Last time i checked he was
still on pace to break the record for most walks in a season.  He's walked 149
times so far and thats a hell of a lot of bad pitches.

Secondly, your theory implies that hitting homeruns is easy if a ball is
laid in there for the hitter.  You must have never seen a major league team
take batting practice.  In batting practice the pitcher throws meatballs over
the plate, and you still have guys that foul them off, hit grounders and pop
flies that dont make it out of the infield, and sometimes they even swing and
miss.  And these are major leaguers we are talking about.
