I think this year counts because contracts are generally signed by dates not in years but then who knows just my opinion. - Mishra

Question - if there's no season, does this year count against contract years?  Since this has never happened before, i.e., the season being cancelled, if it is, why would this year count at all?  Wouldn't they start next year as though it were this year?  That is, in terms of where they are in their contracts.
