The Good Old Days

Maybe the lockout isn't so bad. Fox Sports NE just showed a replay of
Boston vs. LA, 1984, Game 4, noted for McHale's clothesline of Rambis.

Those were the days: only two refs, the game not over-regulated, a
bench-clearing muscle tussle with no one ejected; Kareem and Larry
screaming at each other after the big baby hit Bird with an elbow (and
no double technical); ML waving the towel and trash-talking; the Celts
overcoming a 5-point deficit with less than 1 minute to play; Larry
struggling with his shot, but still with 20+ points AND boards, and
hitting the game-winner in Cooper's face; Magic choking two FTs with the
game on the line; the pure hatred you could work up for those LA jerks,
both on the court and in the seats; and the agony and ecstasy, the
excruciating joy of squirming for 2 1/2 hours while watching the team
you live for hustle and claw and grit their way to a championship that
only the true believers thought they could win.

Damn it, I miss that feeling.
