Re: Mercer, Billups, & Walker in Trouble?

This will be interesting to watch unfold. According to the Globe, this
woman's story has changed more than once and she claims things happened at
times when the Celtics were on the road. I would imagine that money is at
the root of all of this. In college Pitino had to warn his guys about
accepting favors from agents. In the pros, the warning has to be about
avoiding woman who are gold diggers or professional suers. I wonder if
these guys will settle to get rid of her or if they will fight it out no
matter what ugly details emerge. I'm sure she's hoping for a payday for her
trouble.

This is getting a fair amount of attention in Boston. Local writers who
travel with the team (and other NBA teams in the past) talk about the
groupies that are always available for the players. Rodman talks about it.
The NBA is all about $$ and sex, according to Rodman. I would imagine that
the temptation for a single man would be enormous, but they really have to
watch with whom they associate. The downside of celebrity.
