No one's looking for a "cheap shot" way of unloading Antoine.  The
premise of my post was, at this present time Antoine's value is at
its optimal, and therefore if the C's don't plan on signing him, now
would be the time to deal him.  Even if there is a post-lockout period
where teams can re-sign their prospective free-agents, it doesn't
necessarily mean that conditions between the C's and Antoine will
be different.  The Larry Bird exemption could still be in effect,
and Antoine's salary request may still be greater than what Boston is
willing to give.   In that case, he'll be closer to free agency,
and his value will be lessened.
