Patriot Ledger's Mike Fine: Celtics Interested In Moving Up In The Draft

And here's what Mike Fine of the (Quincy, MA) Patriot Ledger said:

"While many NBA teams have been busying themselves with the annual process of
inviting potential draft choices in for a workout and interview, the Celtics
have been strangely quiet.

"They haven't staged any of these workouts yet, which seems curious.

"Given the dogged thoroughness of coach Rick Pitino... one would think the Celtics
would be working a dozen of these players ragged on a daily basis, given that the
draft is only 18 days away.

"That they haven't suggests one thing: the Celtics, who are slotted to draft 10th,
are more interested in trading the pick and making an upward move. even if they
don't make an upward move, they can trade the pick for future considerations.
Trading down for extra picks doesn't seem to make much sense in a draft that's
generally regarded as one of the weakest ever.

"This is no surprise. Everybody knows the Celtics aren't going to get very far
drafting 10th in a weak draft. They need big, tough guys, and the chances of getting
one there are slim. Pitino has already indicated he's going to be active in the
free-agent market..."
