NEW YORK - Just when it looked like NBA owners and players might never speak again, they decided it wouldn't be a bad idea to try to save the season.

"Somebody had to call eventually, because we eventually had to get back to the bargaining table," NBA deputy commissioner Russ Granik said Tuesday after the sides announced that labor talks will resume Thursday morning.

It will be the first session featuring the owners' and players' full bargaining committees since Nov. 20, when the sides met for 9 1/2 hours and called it their most productive meeting to date.
