Er, ahh, Joe, that should be hare krishna, not hari krishna. Minor
point. 
Major point - the dopes who wore saffron robes and chanted "Hare
Krishna" in the streets probably knew as much about Krishna (who is a
mythological figure in Indian folklore) as I know about the "Ve
arrondissement a Paris."
