Geiger, Ratliff, Austin

I found the commentary on the basketball abilities of the players useful,
but where does the 4 million/year figure for Geiger and Ratliff come from?
I have never seen that figure discussed for either player whereas I have
seen the figure $50M over seven years for Ratliff, and originally $10M/year
for Geiger. He supposedly lowered his demands to $7M/year after his troubles
in the playoffs (and realizing that $10M was probably not too realistic).
If he really had said $4M/year, Falk probably would have killed him.

In either case, $7M/year translates to a bit over $4M in the first year
under the old CBA; perhaps that is where the $4M figure comes from? Pitino
was anticipating having around $4M in cap space in which case he could
probably pull it off (assuming the old CBA and renouncing Popeye Jones).
