I support the Celtics, no matter what...BUT, I want another championship.
AIMING FOR LESS is what is not acceptable to me. AIMING to make the playoffs
every year, and getting bounced in the first round, only to draft another
mediocre player is not acceptable to me. If it takes a few bad seasons to
draft and develop young talent, that is acceptable to me.

I root for the Celtics to win every game, and do NOT want them to tank any
games, much less the entire season. With the current roster, the Celtics are
one of the worst teams in the league. It would be possible to improve them
for this season by signing more players like Dominique Wilkins rather than
giving Eric Williams playing time. That would enable the Celtics to win a few
more games, but would make them worse in the future. Not only would it slow
Williams's development, it would mean a lower draft pick, and less talent next
year. I would rather the current bad team take its lumps and hope for batter
seasons to come.

No...Duncan is not a sure thing, but the odds are a lot better with 13 wins
than with more. And, assuming the current standings hold, the Celtics cannot
do any worse than the fifth and tenth picks in the draft. Twelve and thirteen
are not possible.

Go ahead and vent...this mailing list is a good place for that. I just hope
you can see my point of view.
