Re: Rate Pitino's Move Poll

Criticism of Pitino at this point on any other score than his proposed Pippin
trade is unjustified and uninformed. Of his personell moves no man can say
until these guys have been in the league a couple of years. The Wesley
situation was a fait accompli. We weren't going to get in a bidding war with
Charlotte or anybody else. A token effort would have just been insulting.
The Chris Wallace thing is also beyond our ken; Pitino wanted him as one of
the top talent evaluators in the league, and Pat Riley was an asshole for
demanding compensation when the unwritten rule in teh league is that you let
your people move upwards to other organizations if they get the chance.
Karma for Jimmy Rodgers perhaps. As for the Fox situation, that was Travis'
big mouth and the league's officious lawyers at work; it couldn't be helped.
The same with Dino. We got lucky that Brown came to us with that great
trade, but its nasty aftermath made Dino completely unmarketable. At least
he got rid of him, which counts for a lot, and credit to Gaston in there too.
Finally, anybody who thinks we won't win at least 25 to 30 games next year
is nuts. Last years CBA squad under ML Carr won 15; how in the world could
even the same team under pitino not pick up ten to fifteen games (back to
backs, expansions, transcoast road swings, etc.) Add the talent we are
putting on the table with Mercer and Billups (if he is any kind of a point
guard), plus a healthy Dee and Dana, and I think we have an outside chance
for a playoff spot if Minnesota or Indy falter (as well they might.)

Pitino's grade right now is an Incomplete; but his GPA is 4.0.
