Mishra I agree that we may be one player away from being a playoff
team, and I would love to make the playoffs this year. But we really need
to target our cap space towards next year's class. I ran some numbers in
Matlab. If we can free up $8M for next year and we make someone a seven
year offer with the allowed 20% increases every year, that would add up to
$103.3M over the seven years. With that kind of money we might have a
shot at Kevin Garnett, which would give the team championship potential
after a few years of development/experience.

That's what really disturbs me about the Travis Knight signing.
Hopefully he'll be a solid player, but his contract will take away about
$2.3M of next year's cap space. I don't know what to make of Big
Country's contract extension. Obviously they didn't want to lose him to
free agency next year, but I don't think anyone would have made him that
kind of offer. Since the new contract kicks in next year, maybe they're
looking to make a big free agent acquistion this year.

If Minnesota signs Brian Williams, resigns Garrett, and their
draft pick Paul Grant, they might look to move Stanley Roberts, who I
beleive has only a year left at $2.9 million. Maybe McHale would take
Dana for him straight up? The timber puppies could use a shooter of
Dana's caliber as a third guard.

Did Toronto resign Doug Christie for four years at $20M??!!!
