Re: Travis Knight and The (Ricky's) Pits...

Fox: I understand he's already a free agent. My question pertains to cap
rules which I do not understand. With Knight's contract, we would have to go
well over the cap in order to keep Fox. Teams are allowed to go over the cap
in order to re-sign their own FA's. If we "renounce" our rights to Fox, this
frees cap room for the Knight deal but means we can't keep Fox. If we can
ink Knight w/o "renouncing" Fox then we can go over the cap to keep him,
right?

Knight: I think, because this is going to be a running team, there will be a
higher number of FGA than the league average. You're right, 8 boards per
game is probably more realistic but he should aim for a double-double for
those $.

Billups: Same as above. Again, I agree that 7 apg is a more realistic # but
we need the extra possesions per game to translate into a couple of "cheap"
buckets and Billups (vs. say, Iverson) will be looking to dish rather than
score.

Walker: IMHO, our "pre-defined go-to guy."

Williams: I think he stays. He gets this year to prove himself worthy under
Pitino. If he loafs or plays for personal stats rather than wins then he's
gone to a playoff team come trade deadline time.

Minor: I'm glad he was spotted buying mucho cleaning supplies; it may
indicate a change in personal outlook but I think the whole deal with the
child care payments is indicative of the spoiled athlete syndrome (maybe he
and Cordero can get together and swap he-man stories). He couldn't finish
his workout. Maybe Pitino was overdoing it to light a fire under his butt, I
don't know but I would much rather see Williams than Minor in Green this
year:

Start:	Billups * Mercer * Fox * Walker * Knight
Bench:	Barros or Brown (16-18mpg) * one of Seals/Freeman/Woolridge (12) *
Williams (32, backing up both Fox at SF & Walker at PF) * Conlon (16-18)
10-12: Ellison & whatever stiffs with inflated but shorter term contracts
Pitino trades for Minor & Barros or Brown
